A horizontal TMR feed mixer is a self-contained feed processing machine that chops, kneads, and blends roughage, concentrate, minerals, vitamins, and additives into one uniform Total Mixed Ration. It is also called a horizontal TMR mixer, horizontal feed mixer, or TMR feed mixing machine.

The machine uses one or two horizontal augers inside a long mixing trough. As the augers rotate, feed moves along the trough and is cut by blades against fixed knives. The result is a consistent ration that prevents cattle from sorting feed and improves dry matter intake.

How Does the Horizontal TMR Feed Mixer Work?

The working process follows three stages:

1. Chopping: Long materials such as silage, hay, and straw are cut by rotating blades against fixed knives.
2. Kneading and mixing: The augers move feed back and forth while additives and concentrates are blended in.
3. Discharge: The finished TMR exits through a discharge gate, often controlled by hydraulic cylinder.

An automatic weighing system with load cells monitors the weight of each ingredient. The operator can set target weights for roughage, concentrate, and additives to ensure accurate ration formulation.
